THREE RING CIRCUS.

“No, I’m not. We’ve had a lot things go on here and there. We are men and things come our way. We still have a job to do”
—Jerry Manuel, via Andy Martino of the NYDN

The quote above was in response to what was likely the 37th question asking if Francisco Rodriguez’ arrest last night was a distraction for the team.

Really? It’s not a distraction? Really? Because I would think that your high-priced star closer allegedly going postal against a family member (if someone is carried out on a stretcher with visible injuries, I believe that rates the term ‘going postal’) on team property in front of other team family members, being arrested and held overnight, causing THE ENTIRE BASEBALL WORLD to focus on your team that is already making headlines by imploding so astronomically, would be a fucking distraction. The media swarm, the headlines in every paper, the police presence… but no, not a distraction.

How about: “Yes, it’s a distraction, but everyone else here still has a job to do, people bought tickets to see a team on the field today, so that’s what we’re going to do.” Wouldn’t that be a measured, reasonable, intelligent response?

I am disgusted, I am apoplectic, I am getting a headache, I am fed up. I have been to 24 Mets games at Citi Field and 10 road games. My household owns two ticket plans. I bought a freaking Jason Bay shirt when the season started.

I guess the point is that I am doing my part, while no one in Flushing is doing theirs. Where is the leadership? Where is the accountability? I would settle for someone not saying something stupid for once. Why is the organization not dictating that people stick to talking points that actually answer the question but don’t sound completely milquetoast?

I am delighted with the win today. I am delighted Johan pitched a full game. I am, however, not delighted that that only happened because WE DON’T REALLY HAVE A CLOSER AT THE MOMENT.

I am glad that there was some action taken although I find it to be completely insignificant and a signal that there are no consequences to anything anyone ever does or doesn’t do.

I have a ticket for tomorrow night and I absolutely don’t want to be there. I don’t want to deal with moronic Phillies fans who use homosexuality as the punchline of all their smack talk. I am tired of being the punchline of every single joke being made today on the internet. I don’t want to deal with a loss, I don’t want to deal with stupid security who exclaim with delight because THEY FOUND AN OPEN WATER BOTTLE! Wow, on a 95 degree day, someone traveled with a water bottle - AND DRANK FROM IT! CALL HOMELAND SECURITY!

I am more than a little fed up with everything to do with this team. I don’t have anything Mets-related to wear to the game because right now I feel that there is no player right now I feel deserves my support.

At least I didn’t cave and buy a fucking Jeff Francoeur shirt.  If you defend him here I am going to mock you mercilessly and go on Twitter and find other people to come here and do it. We have enough mediocrity on this team without defending a cute white guy who gives the beat writers good quotes.

There, I’m done now.

Did you hear Jerry on the postgame?  He was asked, before the game you said you would not hesitate to use K-Rod today if he is back on time.  10 minutes later he was suspended.  What happened in between there?  And he had absolutely no idea what was going on.  Asked for clarification twice, then said “Johan pitched a shutout.”

When they asked whether he was involved in his player’s being put on the restricted list, he actually said “To be honest, I don’t really know what is going on at all.”

The whole organization is a joke at this point, but Jerry is just unbelievable.

Absolutely spot on! Couldn’t agree more. I’ve always tried to stay on the fence about Jerry but after this week my mind is made. The whole organisation is just shocking.

I stopped listening to Jerry in the postgame pressers because it made me want to tear my hair out. His laughing just drove me nuts.

I’m not surprised that he doesn’t know what’s going on but if no one tells him, that is actually not his fault. But it’s stupid that he doesn’t know. Don’t tell me that it has nothing to do with baseball.

We are a laughingstock.

In no way am I trying to defend Jerry Manuel…because god knows I think he manages like a moron 99.9% of the time.  But…the question from the reporter that was mentioned above was so idiotic as well.  At the time that Jerry spoke with reporters at 11 this morning, the team had not made a move regarding Rodriguez’s roster status.  That is not Manuel’s problem…the team could have made the move first thing this morning.  The move was not announced until somewhere between the 1st & 2nd inning of the game….which to me is ridiculous and unacceptable.

So…to be fair, at the time Jerry was asked the question, he answered it as if K-Rod was on the active roster.  Because…well, technically he was.  To ask what happened between Manuel’s statement and the team’s move of K-Rod to the restricted list was just a moronic question.  Maybe upper management could have better communicated their plans/intention prior to Manuel’s meeting w/ the media this morning…but why would they do that?!  That would make sense.

BUT…the fact that Jerry would have even considered tossing K-Rod out there today even if he did show up in uniform following last night’s event is just the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.  As if Mets fans at Citi Field today would have greeted him with a big fat hug.  Come. On.  He sits Jason Bay to protect him for the onslaught of boos…but he was going to confidently throw K-Rod out on the mound after some type of alleged assault.  Idk if I should laugh or cry at how ridiculous that sounds.

Okay…I’m done for now, I swear.

Do not like this at all. Violent behavior in front of Mrs. reyes and jose’s DAUGHTER! Then on top of that David makes the Jeter response to the situation. F-ed up beyond belief. My fandom could survive a 0-162 situation but this is unbeleivable. All I can say is Heath Bell in 2012.

Jerry can’t be serious when he says it’s not a distraction to the team. It was all everybody could talk about on the radio & tv. K-Rod is an embarassment to the organization. He needs to learn anger management skills if he wants to better both his personal & professional life. Everybody was still talking about K-Rod coming into today’s game. The only way people would stop was if Johan pitched a no-hitter.

Angel Pagan is the only reason I still pay for cable.

Time to dump Jerry, Beltran, Castillo, F-Rod, and Perez and regroup with a little leadership and Pagan, Davis, Tejada, Reyes, Wright, and Thole (and Nies, DIckey, Santana, Pelf, and a pitcher to be named later).

This pathetic BS has got to end now.
