SINGLE-GAME TICKETS ON SALE MARCH 9.
I realize most of you reading this have this date burned in your brain. However, for my friends from other places and who support other teams, and want to come see them at Shea (or want to make it to Shea before they knock the place down), it bears a reminder. I know there are some Rockies fans and some Mariners fans heading our way. For any of you, I’m happy to offer ticket purchasing advice in the comments.
Keep in mind that that day is when Daylight Savings ends (Spring Ahead, Fall Back!) so don’t oversleep!
We need to take a look at the calendar now and make our own plans. TBF is of course making noises now about reacquiring our Saturday plan, so I don’t know how many extra games we’re likely to pick up right now. Like everyone else on the planet, we want to be at Santana’s first start. Ideally, it would be at the home opener, and we would be set. However, knowing the Mets, who knows what they’ll decide. We may end up buying a game or two on spec just in case.
What is everyone else buying?

I’m mostly sitting around explaining to myself (two or three times a day) how it is just too freakin’ expensive to fly to New York to see a game that Johan may or may not be starting.
I bet TPTB will arrange for a Twins-Mets interleague game next year, though.
The only way Johan is throwing the home opener is if Pedro starts Opening Day in Miami - which, while possible, is not that likely.
More likely you’ll have him make his Shea debut on th 10th or 11th - depending on how many starts Willie wants to give El Duque the first two times through the rotation
Yeah, Andrew, that was our thought as well, but TBF keeps yelling at me for posting stuff like that here ;) We pretty much plan on buying for later that week just on spec, just in case.
C’mon, Robin. Lovely shopping in NYC in the summer. And you could see Shea before they knock it down.
Bummer I can’t make it back to Shea before they knock it down. I for one will be at my computer Saturday morning to get my tickets for both series when they’re here in May and June. I’m trying to convince TW ( the wife) that at least once we should take in all three games Needless to say the Mets are not listed as value games when prices drop. In fact prices go up for Mets and Cubs games.
The Mets and Roxs are both in camp spring is here. How many days until opening day. I am finally seeing my first opening day, it’s about time.
Play ball!
awesome. my rockies home opener tickets finally came in the mail the other day and i’ve been waiting to hear when the mets tickets go on sale so i can pick them up for the rockies series. i might have plane tickets, but it’s not real to me until i have baseball tickets.
Crap.
I didn’t realize until the other day that the opener was Mar 31… I thought it was April 1 (only looked at the April calendar), which meant that Johan would have pitched both the Season Opener and the Home Opener (in my head)… Wouldn’t it make the most sense to have Johan go on the Home Opener? They owe us, no?
Crap again. I signed up for a class the night of the 11th.
Crap crap crap.
Depending on the schedule, darling, you may not need to buy tix on your own...I’ll be at the Blues Fest the first home weekend, and if Johan doesn’t start the home opener, it looks like I’ll be missing his “first start” (when Coop is in the house) till April end or something.
Read: YOu and TBF may buy my tix. Since I went in with Mr. E, can’t give em to you for free :). But you understand…
Now I don’t buy regular tickets in advance, unless I know it’s going to sell out (certain Phillies games, clincher, things like that) I hate using the phone and if I use the internet I have to pay those stupid service fees, day of game for me.
However I know you have a season plan, so don’t forget that the presale is actulaly this thursday, the 28th, for the normal games. No reason to wait until the 9th. (Presale code is SANTANA, big surprise)
I would yell at you for giving the world the code but I appreciate the effort (I got my letter on Saturday) and I am guessing that you have to have an account associated with a plan to make the presale code work.
At least I hope you do.
Not that the mets made any effort to make it difficult. fuck, last year i believe it was something incredibly hard to guess like “reyes”.
idiots.
yeah. You gotta have the account associated. I know, because I tried every way I could think of to try to trick the system today to buy more Opening/Closing day tickets.
Last year I think there were two codes, both Wright and Reyes.
