REALLY?

You’re really going to let the Phillies sweep us?  Really? You’re kidding, right?

Yeah, I know there’s a game today. I briefly thought of assembling the girls and heading down there. I’m not sure what mind-altering substances I was under the influence of at the time. Oh, wait, it’s the ones that make me think THAT THE PHILLIES SUCK AND MY NEPHEW COULD GET A HOME RUN AT CBP and, to quote Coop yet again, THESE ARE THE GAMES WE NEED TO BE WINNING.

I’m back to thinking that they really just don’t give a damn. That it irks me more than them to think that I have unused World Series tickets still sitting in a FedEx envelope in my bookcase. As though that happens every frickin day around here.

I wish I could exhibit Mike’s calm stoicism, but right now I just can’t. IT’S THE PHILLIES. At worst we should be 2-2. Not going into the last game of the series with them up 3 games.

I just can’t even think about it right now.

We have mastered the art of missed opportunities.

On the bright side this will make it all the more heartbreaking for Phillies fans when they lose the division.

i’m seriously considering not purchasing my “up to four (4) tickets to one (1) potential game of either the DS or LCS, on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability by game” on september 5th.  if the mets can’t be bothered, why should i?

Krup, I am so with you.  I find it fitting that I paid my postseason invoice yesterday, the same day as one of the most disheartening losses of the year.  My theory is - at least I get a credit towards next season if they don’t play.

i feel your pain.  although for once it would be nice to be in a position of worrying about slipping out of first place than getting so close to it but never there.

what a strange season it’s turning out to be.  but i have to admit, i like how none of the races have been decided at this point in the year.  it’s going to be one heck of a september.

I paid because I want in if it happens. And like COop said, it can be credited towards next year, although I will be obnoxious and ask for it back JUST ON PRINCIPLE.

Sister D. I agree that it’s a good thing that it’s not all decided yet. But it is just - INFURIATING - beyond belief right now. I wonder how much the rings really matter to players any more. As I understand it, it used to be that World Series bonuses were major chunks of change compared to what players actually made. But now, unless you’re young and hungry - does Delgado really NEED the extra cash?

Coop, it’s like you and I have talked about his tea parties at first base - dude, Carlos Delgado could be one scary guy. Remember when whassis name charged Pedro last year? Who was the first person in front of the mound? Delgado.

They’re all getting paid millions to play a game, and getting to the playoffs won’t change that.

*sigh*

and the answer to your question is:  really.

i unfortunately predict the mets will be in 3rd place sometime next week

Yeah. The postseason invoices come, and the team is playing their worst baseball of the season. Maybe this will be their wake-up call.
