LEGAL OCCUPANCY.

Yes, that is what you think it is. You can see the original Shea Certificate of Occupancy on the Department of Buildings’ website.

(And before you ask - we live in a neighborhood where there’s a lot of illegal construction, so we’re always looking things up on the site [every New Yorker should know about DOB BIS] and TBF heard that the MFY’s got their C of O for Yankee Stadium already so he thought he’d see what he could find about the building in Flushing. [Yes, Citi Field has a temporary Certificate of Occupancy.]

I realize that there are a grand total of six people who will find this scintillating. However, since one of them is me, I get to put it up here.

I’m one of the six—thanks for the interesting post.

Seven. Unless you were already counting me.

I’d been wondering what the new street address is, so I can put it on my parking tickets a la the Blues Brothers. Now I know.

I don’t think it ever occurred to me that Shea had a street address (126th Street is a phantom by now).

Massively loving this!!!! I am sorry to say last weekend i visited Shea Stadium and “Shea"Field and took a picture of the demolition permit.

actually, i wish i had thought to take a photo of the demolition permit. it is probably online somewhere in the BIS records.

Actually if i had a box cutter i probably would have taken the one that was there.

Is it me or does the address on the Cert of Occ not match the address of the Demo?

Shea has (had) a few different addresses. A lot of buildings in NYC have multiple addresses, which can make things very confusing if you’re investigating a particular property.
