WEEKEND ROUNDUP.

METS RAIN HOTLINE: 718-507-7246

If you’re heading out to Flushing tonight, expect rain. Unless you’re in the 300 level or from about row 12 in the Promenade, you’re getting wet.  (Oh, what’s that? You’re on the field level? You’re on your own.) Saturday seems more optimistic, weather-wise. I am excited to see Johnny Maine against Matsuzaka, and interested to see how well I can shoot from my 300 level seats (thanks, Wanda!!)

However, I am not excited about the weather waiting for us in Cincinnati on Monday:

I have officially given up on trying to represent with any flamboyance or style at the game on Monday. I am wearing my long down coat and the other clothes I wore to go to the We Are One concert in DC during Inauguration weekend. I will wear my Mets earrings and a Mets hat and that will need to suffice. (TBF, of course, will be stubborn and wear his Mets sweatshirt and then be cold the entire time.)

If you are not going to the game, MLB.com is doing a public beta test and streaming the games over the web (from both Citi Field and the New House of Evil).

John Delcos is hosting a live chat tonight at 6pm over at his new home, New York Mets Report.

Finally, based off of search engine queries, some quick questions:

  • Why aren’t the outfield walls blue at Citi Field: They are. They’re not. Probably because outfield walls are about utility and not about branding.
  • Smoking at Citi Field: There are smoking pens. (Don’t ask me, ask a security person when you get there.)
  • What time do gates open: Same as at Shea: one gate (Left Field) opens 2 1/2 hours before the game for early entrance/BP.
  • Mets workout day: This isn’t open to the public. Admission is by ticket only, and tickets were only sent out to plan holders (not season ticket holders).
  • Acela Club: Is by reservation only, *and* you have to have a ticket on one of the premium levels as well. Think Diamond Club access.
  • Can you bring food into Citi Field: A-to-Z says no, but the Mets repeatedly said we could bring food to Citi, and apparently A-to-Z said “no” last year and we all did. I’m bringing cupcakes tomorrow, so I’ll find out.

To close: GARY SHEFFIELD = NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

This is what Mr. Met thinks of that idea.

Watching the Friday game on the TV now. It doesn’t seem like a Mets home game - all the wrong scenery. I’m sure I’ll get used to it though. However, the outfied walls still look black to me :-) Maybe they’ll look different when I see them live tomorrow. Good luck in the Queen City. Don’t freeze!

p.s. - I agree with you and Mr. Met on the Sheffield deal. Who will he push off the roster?

do you know why the sunday workout was not for season ticket holders and only for plan holders? why does the season ticket holder keep getting shafted?

Well, first I’ll tell you what I tell everyone who comes here to make this into a soapbox: call 718-507-TIXX and ask them. I am not official, have no access and no way to raise this issue, and honestly, since I’m not a season ticket holder, I tend to care very little.

Frankly as a partial plan holder I feel that you guys get quite enough. We lost almost all of the rights we had at Shea. From my perspective, you guys got everything except the St. John’s game.

Everyone who committed to the Mets in the form of a ticket plan got screwed in Citi Field.
