I’m just not going to get through even half of these tonight, but a preview for those of you around over Memorial Day:

(For everyone who will ask: I use a Nikon D-40, but the reason I have kickass pictures is because I am insanely dedicated and work my ass off at it. When I had a low-end DSLR in 2006 I still took good photos. If you want to take good pictures, then take some classes, read some books, take some workshops, and just *take pictures*. You could have the best camera in the world and still take horrible photos if you expect the camera to do all the work.)

congratulations, you found the secret to enjoying Mets BP. GO ON THE ROAD!!! And was that an autograph I saw in the 3rd pic? now the Red Sox, that looks like a model organization.
For all the elements of Citi Field that you and other people don’t like, or were upgrades from Shea (BP, Mets history, prices, view from seats, food, concourses, etc.), how does Fenway compare to Citi Field?
DyHrd, I always knew that secret. After we got Johan, we were starting to plan a trip to Pittsburgh because we knew over a three-day series either Johan would start or would have a throwing day, and we knew that if we bought tickets from season ticket holders we would get early BP access, and we knew how accessible their bullpens were. I knew I would never get a chance to shoot Santana close up at Shea.
And then we got to Philly early that one time on his throwing day and voila.
I will write up a full Fenway report shortly. But I will point out that we had access DOWN TO THE FIELD AND DUGOUTS. You could go ANYWHERE except the Monster and the warning track. The people who were getting autographs were people who had donated to charity and got on-field access as a result. The Red Sox do a LOT of charity stuff like that.
Rusty, tickets are as expensive as you want them to be because you have to buy them on the secondary market. I don’t know what the bottom is, I know what we budgeted. Hotels are about the same price as in any other major city.
Thanks, eli.
the other place where you can get close up for photos is Spring Training. last year, i had bullpen seats in Port St. Lucie on a night when Johan pitched and it was great being that close. i gotta start thinking road trip.
i love those photos of Wright where it looks like he’s looking right at you. i don’t remember getting anything that good in Spring Training when all there is is close. awesome photos.
DyHrdMET: that’s my secret to close pics. I visit my family in Kissimmee and time it with a Mets game @ the Astros ST facility in Osceola County Park. I’ve sat one row behind heme plate multiple times, for no more than $30/ticket.
