BATTING PRACTICE, CAMDEN YARDS, 6-12-10.

One of the best parts about road games is the ability to get better access to BP than I can at my home park.

More great photos after the jump.

My favorite part was watching the players long toss. It was interesting to see who was paired up with who; for example, Barajas was tossing to Blanco, and was definitely trying to throw a knuckleball. When Rod was signing autographs at the dugout later on, TBF said, “I saw you throwing that knuckleball. How’s your slider?” Rod laughed and said his curve was better.

For the life of me, I still don’t understand why the Mets changed the BP access at Citi Field. With the exception of Yankee Stadium, almost everyone - even Fenway - has better access than we do. When people arrived at Camden and wanted their seats, they were escorted to their seats by security who told people to move. The people moved. Most people don’t show up that early and want their seats, but if they do, I’m not seeing why security can’t actually do their job and make it known that people have to move. The crabbiest, crankiest old guys at Citi Field are working security in those field sections, there’s no reason they couldn’t do the same thing. I know the answer is “because they’re not thinking about it” but it’s high time that they do.

Several things: really like the pictures of Wright’s backside :-)

And Barajas took so much time signing autographs in Cinci as well. He certainly comes across as a nice guy. Need more players like him.

It was great that Rod signed balls; however, I can tell you that 75% of the people he signed for had no idea who he was. And David signed balls for the two little kids who were next to us, who got there first - but as soon as the girl’s mother saw that she had gotten David Wright’s signature, she told her, “Okay, now put your Orioles hat back on.”

If I was a player, I’d sign stuff for charity only.

Beautiful pictures!! Simply Amazin!!! I was at BP on Sunday and got to meet Jon Neise and R.A. Dickey. What a pleasure to be able to chat with them and get autographs. Neise even took the time to pose for a picture with my friend. Unfortunately though, I had to endure answering the “who was that?” question as well…
As far as Citi BP goes, I go to BP there all the time. Your ticket doesnt need to be field level, you just need to return to your seat prior to the start of the game. The sections you are allowed to go down for great pictures and autographs (Carter, Reyes, Pagan, Davis, and Feliciano are practically always signing) is sections 110-109. Hope to see you there!!!

Meaghan, that’s exactly my point. I have written about this about half a dozen times already. At Citi FIeld, we aren’t allowed behind the dugout. You do not have the same access at Citi that you do at any other park. I cannot get this level of photographs from the sections in which you are allowed to be in at Citi Field. You cannot possibly compare the access you had at Camden Yards to what you can get at Citi Field.

I havent read your prior posts on BP at Citi. Im fairly new to your site. I will have to take a moment to read more of what your site has to offer.
But I will say that although I have taken some phenomenal pictures at Citi during BP (Im not a Photographer so to speak, but I get what my eye likes and a considerable amount are suitable for framing) I can agree with you that Camden gave me some great shots that Citi wouldnt allow me unless I was a ticket holder in sections 114-111. Ive traveled to numerous parks (havent ventured to the west coast, YET) and BP is always more intimate when road grays are worn.
I look forward to future great reads!

The issue is not whether or not you take photographs suitable for framing. The issue is that Mets fans were promised the same level of access during BP that we had at Shea, and we do not have that. The issue is that the level of access is poor compared to other parks - extremely poor. I’ve been to 14 parks so far and will hit 7 more this summer.  Aside from the House of Evil, the Mets have terrible access policies.

I didnt think there was an issue at all. I was simply stating how nice your pictures came out and wanted to thank you for sharing them with other Mets fans.
I thank you for taking your original comment down and posting this one. It gives me greater insight to the way this site operates.

Lets Go Mets!!!
