BATTING PRACTICE PHOTOS, 6-11-11.

What’s the best thing about road games, aside from better tickets and nicer security? Better BP access! [We wished Jose happy birthday when he came out on the field. Chip Hale says, "It's your birthday?" "Twenty-five, baby," was Jose's response.] Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR. … [more]

BATTING PRACTICE, CITI FIELD, 7-28-10.

I was invited to attend batting practice on the field yesterday as a member of the media. Shooting from the warning track instead of jockeying for position behind the dugout with the autograph hounds was a delightful experience. [Be sure to read the game post, too.] Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR. … [more]

METS BP AT AT&T PARK, 7-18-10.

The park was empty, the light was beautiful, and I love taking photos of BP on the road, where I have the kind of great access I can’t get at home. Be sure to also see the full post about yesterday’s game. The full set, as usual: Created with Admarket’s flickrSLiDR. … [more]

BATTING PRACTICE, CAMDEN YARDS, 6-12-10.

One of the best parts about road games is the ability to get better access to BP than I can at my home park. More great photos after the jump. My favorite part was watching the players long toss. It was interesting to see who was paired up with who; for example, Barajas was tossing to Blanco, and was definitely trying to throw a knuckleball. When Rod was signing autographs at the dugout later on, TBF said, “I saw you throwing that knuckleball. How’s your slider?” Rod laughed and said his curve was better. For the life of me, I still don’t understand why the Mets changed the BP access at Citi Field.… [more]

THE 9TH INNING. [5-23-09]

I have a confession to make: I was really looking forward to seeing Jonathan Papelbon in action. Don’t get me wrong; even though I happen to own an unofficial Papelbon shirt (it was a present!), there was no question of loyalties or anything even close this weekend. I just love the drama of the closer and this guy epitomizes that. So the Papelbon entrance was just gorgeous to me. And I loved it for the fan response. I loved that they sang that insufferable Dropkick Murphys song with gusto, that a million flashes went off, that everyone was on their feet, that the sound system was blasting (the sound was crystal clear!!) and the place was rocking.… [more]

BOSTON PHOTO PREVIEW.

I’m just not going to get through even half of these tonight, but a preview for those of you around over Memorial Day: The complete set is on Flickr. The rest to come tomorrow. MORE: My writeup of Saturday’s game Photos from the 9th inning (For everyone who will ask: I use a Nikon D-40, but the reason I have kickass pictures is because I am insanely dedicated and work my ass off at it. When I had a low-end DSLR in 2006 I still took good photos. If you want to take good pictures, then take some classes, read some books, take some workshops, and just *take pictures*.… [more]
